2024-11-02: Shawn received his call sign on November 2, 2024, after being introduced to the hobby one week prior. He took the exam while on lunch break at work with PARC-US (Patriot American Radio Corps of the U.S.).
2024-11-02: Having a family, Shawn made the decision to start with an inexpensive UV-21R with a Nagoya NA-771 whip, a calculated move as family finances come before hobby spending. It is highly likely that Shawn will upgrade sometime in the future.
2024-11-02: Shawn also has interests in the maker space. He runs a Raspberry Pi NAS at home, and just setup a HamClock using an old Pi Zero W. He has way too many projects going on at the same time (most are never ending WIPs).
2024-11-02: Shawn works in the Web Design and Digital Marketing fields for his 9-5 job, but also takes on side projects for a bit of extra cash.
2024-11-02: Shawn also runs a few Meshtastic nodes, and can be reached on the Long Fast channel. He's currently trying to find someplace to mount one high enough to get a bit of range.
2024-11-02: On his very first try, Shawn made contact with a local station. Needless to say, he was pretty ecstatic about it.
2024-11-06: First "in and out" check in on the W8IRA Net Meeting during Shawn's lunch at work. Also very happy about it, and the Net Controller Tom (KB8TYJ), was very welcoming!.
2024-11-08: Shawn just got a APRS-K1 cable and APRSdroid. Not sure what he's going to do with it, or what he's doing yet, but was interested in the technology.
2024-11-16: Shawn upgraded to the TIDRadio H3 and is enjoying listening to the other bands that it is capable of reciving. He got the 2-pack, Keeps one on him, and the other one in the vehicle.
The UV-21R stays at work.

2024-11-17: As a side note, Shawn's wife and kids think he's nuts, and want nothing to do with Amateur Radio. *SIGH*
